The Town Day of Chekhov

On the 25th of August, the population of Chekhov town celebrated the main municipal holiday – the City Day. Following the good old times, celebrations were held in all towns and villages of the district, in Chekhov the main festival events were arranged on Soviet squire. Exhibitions of craftsmen and artist, attractions, creative teams performing one after another on the stage, Napoleon’s "capture", Dzerzhinsky Guards regiment appearance, day-time colorful firework – all this made the atmosphere of holiday amazing and unforgettable.

The town of Chekhov has carried its name for only 58 years. In the previous years books and maps there is an indication of this present day’s municipal center as Lopasnya. People living in Lopasnya in those days took part in Culicov field battle and Borodino battle. Stremilovsky rubezh was the exact place of Checkov region was fascist tanks rushing to Moscow in 1941 were detained. Throughout the history of Lopsnya, this land has given birth to a many renowned artist, poets, and writers. For example, the «Lanskikh-Vasilchikov» estate corresponds to, as people say, "Pushkinsloe gnezdo". Next to this estate in Anna-Zachatievskya church on 25 th August a divine service was held. Official town and district establishment took part in the payer along with visitors, guests and a great number of congregations. The divine service was ministered by archpriest of Chekhov Region churches beneficiary Father Alexander Serbsky.

- I would like to express my gratitude to the district authorities for the divine service that opened up the celebrations dedicated to the Town Day, addressed Father Alexander the audience.

Close to the lunch time thousands of the district people which have already enjoined master classes in crafts and painting, riding horses and attractions started to gather on the main town square. At was here where the Dzerzhinsky Guards regiment performed for the first time ever in the municipal history. Ideal military carriage, hammered step, virtuous weapons handling – camera flushes could be seen from everywhere.

- Each town day should have its own peculiar feature, said Maya Uchaeva, Head of Culture, Arts, Sport and Youth Administration of Chekhov district.

- Since we are celebrating the town day -2012 on the eve of 200-years anniversary of Borodino battle we believed that it will be reasonable and worthy to arrange theatrical show depicting scene from the war with Napoleon. To this purpose we have invited the members of the military and historical clubs. What kind of excitement they prepared for us we shall know soon, she added.

And here he is Napoleon itself accompanied by the soldiers of French Army in his notorious tricorn appears on the square. The attack is brick, movements are sharp and true! One can only imagine how worthy and how much fun it was to hear the shooting from rifles of those days! Right after the blizzard all the square was blanketed in gun powder smoke. The French soldiers have even rolled down the gun but they had no chance to use this terrible cannon – the Russian troops launched their attack. And to the terrific applause of thousands of spectators the defender of the fatherland pushed and put the French army to run across the square. There was no end to the people who wanted to ba taken pictures with the soldiers of the Russian Army of 1812. Though there were a lot of people who wished to have pictures with Napoleon Bonaparte as well who as it turned to be was a good Russian speaker.

Over three thousand inhabitants of Chekhov district gathered in front of the stage in the afternoon on Soviet square. The municipal creative teams, show business stars invited from Moscow took turns on the stage. Exactly at the expected time Alexander Slobodin, Head of the Chekhov district, addressed his townsmen with his congratulations on Town Day. After that millions of multicolor fireworks flashed in the sky. Tremendous burst of fireworks, a whole lot of flash lights and non stop roaring "Hurrah!" – This is how the people of Chekhov district celebrated the Town Day in a big way.

Independent Stage Company "AKSIOMA" acted at technical contractor in organization of event dedicated to Town Day of Chekhov which was held on the fixed traditional holiday day on August 25, 2012 on "Soviet" square. A number of stage structures have been erected: stage, roof, sound portals. Non standard stage platform in to which it was necessary to integrate the stage complex caused main difficulties with roofing. Our design engineers have preliminary settles this problem who prepared all the stage structures sketches, drawings and calculated permissible suspension loading for sound and light fixtures.
