Bakelite / Bakelite plywood

is a material used for covering of podium surface. It is a product of polycondensation of phenol with formaldehyde in presence of alkaline catalyst. It is used as binder in production of abrasive products of cold and hot pressing and rolling, and also for other technical purposes. Bakelite it is soluble in alcohol, at long heating drops into an insoluble and infusible state. This property of bakelite is used in production of plastics. Bakelite alcoholic solution is used as varnishe. Often for forming of big size podium, stage surfaces are used sheets of bakelite or bakelite plywood instead of stage boards, of the type Layher Event. Also in case of installation of awnings, tents and pavilions by fixing them to the podium surface is used bakelite only. Bakelite is a consumable material in which employees of awning companies drill openings for installation of bases, supports and toe ends for installation of tents. Of course it isn't recommended to drill Layher Event stage systems due to their high cost.
